ALTEMY

ALTEMY is an architecture design studio and a first-class registered architect's office, represented by architect Eri Tsugawa, with architects Yo Tamura, Takahito Konishi, and Shuma Tei. They develop design proposals by equally treating all fields, including interior, landscape, product, visual art, installation, mobility, and fashion, as “architecture.” Representative Tsugawa worked at Diller Scodio+Renfro (NY) as a fellow under the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Program of Overseas Study for Upcoming Artists and established her firm upon returning to Japan after winning first prize in the competition for the Kobe Sannomiya Station Plaza, organized by Kobe City.
Major projects include the redevelopment of the plaza in front of Kobe Sannomiya Station, “Kobe City SANKITA Square and Street,” the licensed nursery school “Machi-no-Hoikuen Community School Minamiaoyama” featuring raised floors that provide space for physical development, and the winning design for the “SHIBUYA PARK AVE. 2040 DESIGN COMPETITION,” which envisions road design for central Tokyo aimed at 2040.
They received numerous awards, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Urban Landscape Grand Prize Special Award, the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Design Award, the Tokyo University of the Arts Emerald Award, and the Japan Space Design Award.

The three founding members were all born in 1991. They graduated from the Department of Architecture, Waseda University in 2014 and completed their graduate studies at the university's Graduate School of Science and Engineering in 2016. They co-founded Garage in 2020.
